1. Introduction

Soap Designer (the "Service") is operated by Sara Annala, trading as Tellervo, a sole proprietorship (toiminimi), business ID 2949233-6, Finland ("we", "us"). We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, and it applies to the Service.

2. Information we collect

Account information: your email address and an encrypted password, or the basic profile we receive when you sign in with Google. Recipe and preference data: the choices you make in the recipe tool, your saved recipes, and your recipe progress. Usage data: anonymized analytics about how you interact with the Service. Mailing list: if you sign up to hear from us, we keep your email address, the date you gave your consent, and the date you unsubscribed if you later opt out. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Payment information is handled by our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to: create and manage your account; generate, store, and display your recipes; process subscription payments and verify your subscription status; send you service-related emails such as verification codes and important account notices; improve and maintain the Service; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal basis

We process your data based on your consent when you register, the performance of our contract with you when we provide the Service, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. Where required, we obtain consent before collecting or processing data that needs it.

5. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the Service: Stripe for subscription payments, our hosting and database providers for storing your account and recipe data, and email delivery for transactional messages. Each provider processes data under appropriate safeguards. We may disclose information when required by law.

6. Cookies and local storage

The Service uses local storage and cookies to keep you signed in, remember your recipe progress, and remember your preferences. We do not use cookies to track you across third-party websites. You can clear local storage through your browser settings, though some features may stop working as a result.

7. Data retention

We keep your account and recipe data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage most of this directly within the Service, or contact us through the Help & Contact page. If you are in the European Economic Area, you have GDPR rights; if you are in the UK, you have equivalent rights under UK data protection law.

9. International transfers

We and the service providers we use store and process your information on servers located in the United States, and in other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards, in particular the standard contractual clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission and the data processing agreements our providers offer. Our hosting and email delivery providers, and Stripe for payments, are based in or process data in the United States.

10. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will remove the account.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
