Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Soap Designer (the "Service"), operated by Sara Annala, trading as Tellervo, a sole proprietorship (toiminimi), business ID 2949233-6 (VAT number FI29492336), Finland ("we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not register or use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors and registered users.
2. Description of the service
Soap Designer is a guided soap-making recipe generator that helps you create balanced soap recipes, calculate lye and ingredient amounts, and follow step-by-step instructions. The Service is operated by Tellervo. Soap Designer also allows registered users to save recipes, download recipe cards, and access supplementary educational content such as ebooks, videos, and resources.
3. Accounts and registration
To access certain features, you must register for an account by providing a valid email address and password, or by signing in with a third-party provider such as Google. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to register. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Some features of the Service, such as saving recipes and downloading recipe cards, require a paid subscription. Subscription fees are billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge the recurring fee to your selected payment method until you cancel. You may cancel your subscription at any time; access to paid features will continue until the end of your current billing period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change our pricing with reasonable advance notice; any change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 days from the start of your subscription to withdraw from it, without giving a reason. To exercise that right, write to us through the Help & Contact page, and we will refund what you paid to your original payment method within 14 days of your request. Where you buy digital content such as an ebook and ask us to make it available immediately, acknowledging that you then lose the right of withdrawal, that right ends when the download begins. Cancelling an ongoing subscription at any time, as described above, is separate from this and always available.
5. Your content
Any recipes, preferences, and other information you create or save within the Service ("Your Content") belong to you. You grant us, as the operator of the Service, a limited license to store, display, and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of any information you submit. Saved recipes are private to your account.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to access another user's data or interfere with the Service's security; (c) reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service; (d) upload content that infringes the rights of others; or (e) use the Service to manufacture products for commercial resale without understanding your local regulatory obligations. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.
7. Soap-making safety disclaimer
The recipes, instructions, and guidance provided through the Service are for educational and informational purposes only. Soap making involves handling sodium hydroxide (lye), which is caustic and can cause serious injury if mishandled. You are solely responsible for following proper safety procedures, wearing protective equipment, and working in a ventilated area. We do not guarantee any result and are not liable for any injury, damage, or loss arising from your use of a recipe or instruction generated by the Service.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, text, software, and generated instructional content, is owned by Tellervo and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to copy, redistribute, or resell the Service or its content beyond your personal, non-commercial use.
9. Third-party links and content
The Service may link to third-party websites, videos, and suppliers, and may reference third-party ebooks. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, products, or practices of third parties. Your interactions with third parties are at your own risk.
10. Service availability
We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time without notice. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or interruption caused by circumstances beyond our control.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or, if you have not paid, to nil.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer and are not satisfied with how we have handled a matter, you can take it to the Finnish Consumer Advisory Service (kuluttajaneuvonta, www.kkv.fi); if you live elsewhere in the European Union, you can also contact your national consumer body or the European Consumer Centre.
